You and the long shifts |
In 24 hour operations, sleepiness can cause errors because of the difficulty in keeping focus and inattention. In the early morning, around 4am the body temp can be the lowest and the resulting inactivity creates the urge to go to sleep. Night shifts can also increase depression and gastro distress. Sleep deficits can also reduce body defences and this can increase the heart rate. |
