| What's their name? | ||||
| Back | ||||
| Here are some simple rules to remember names. |
| Link together their facial features, the way their name is said ... ask for confirmation if misheard and tie it together their name with their job, location or a related person. |
|
Repeat their name |
Say their name to yourself, with a repeat of the facial features, job, location etc. Example: DON Yates, big nose, charity chairman, Perth. |
Carry a Pen & Card |
When you have the chance, step aside and make a note of their name, facial features. job, location etc. If they give you a business card ... even better! (Write notes on it) |
Pace your intros |
Work the 'room', but at your own pace so you can quietly go through the names of the people you have met and keep jogging the memory. |
Wear name tag on right |
If there are name tags issued as part of the meetings wear the name tag ON YOUR RIGHT HAND SIDE. You do this so when you lean forward to shake hands, you naturally move your right shoulder forward, so the person you are meeting has a clearer view of your name tag .... If they DO NOT have their name tag on the right, mention the reason why it should be on the right side ... which gives you a better chance to read their name tag and be remembered to them! |
