Private school fee examples
The Governments of all States have priorities
to ensure that all students are able to access
an education program that satisfies
the requirements of the
Curriculum Framework, within the prescribed:

Maximum voluntary contribution limit

Years K-7 :    $  60* /year
Years 8-10:   $235* /year

Where parents do not pay the voluntary contribution,
students are not to be treated differently to those
whose parents have paid.

Compulsory course charge fees

Years 11 & 12: $300 - $700* /year
.
* Confirm fees - subject to change & options selected

In all years where extra-cost options are chosen
by students, compulsory charges will apply.

Private schools have a mix of application fees,
compulsory contributions to 'internal foundations'
plus schooling fees and boarding charges if
the student is a boarder. Additional fees are
usually charged for overseas students.

Private schools can have more extra-curricula
options, but there can be large extra charges.

There is a mix of school types and fees.
Federal and State Governments do support
the fees of Australian resident students.

There are great Public Schools and great Private Schools.
The trick is finding the school that bests fits your child's needs
and what you are looking for.

It's a good idea to research the schools that interest you.
To get a good picture of the school, visit in person with your child,
and ask as many questions as you need.

When doing your school fee calculations, remember to budget for
books, lunches, commuter fees to and from school, excursions,
maybe health insurance for teeth, school uniforms and shoes!
