Computer game addiction is real and growing.
Almost one out of 7 game players show signs of addiction!

How to know
if we are

addicted to games?
When home, most hours are spent on computer or video games.
Falling asleep at school.
Not keeping up with assignments.
Lying about video or game use.
Not wanting to see friends, playing games.
Dropping out of clubs or sports.
Irritable when not playing games.
Inability to stop playing games.

Physical symptoms. Back and neck pain.
Headaches.
Dry eyes.
Forgetting to eat regularly.
Neglecting personal hygiene.

What to do ...... Limit time playing games.
Get homework and jobs done first.
Do outdoor activities.
Go out with your mates.
Swap the batteries for flat ones ....
(They have to save pocket money to get replacements.)
Hide the remote controls in the washing to be ironed
    (Safe from most male teenagers!)
Do not make credit card purchases of games online for your kids.

What can
an addiction cost?

In March 2007, it is estimated that 8.5 million people
play WARCRAFT, paying an average of 50 cents/day.
Players are paying some $500 Million per year
worldwide to play this game. That's serious cash!

The SOLUTION is a very healthy balance

The majority of children, do their homework,
keep up with their home responsibilities,
play their video and computer games;
have time with their mates, and have other interests.

When playing violent games,
this can lead to aggressive behaviour.
It is best to limit  these kind of games,
because they are not a positive influence,
no matter what your kid's plead.

The reality of these games is often more inviting
than everyday life, family, school or work.
These games are an escape.

School Councilors, and Doctors, can help.
Best if an adult goes also to get a better understanding
of what it's all about, what are the traps, and how they
can take REAL & SERIOUS CASH to satisfy and
keep playing.
