where your kids are |
Your kids are wandering the web, talking with their peer groups and discovering the world around them .... so when they see, hear or go search issues like the marble mining of Timor Island or the wood chipping of Tiwi Island near Darwin, then expect to hear the awkward & difficult questions |
What has happended to the local animals? Why cut down the big trees? Where are the people who lived here before? Do you have to be a miner? Are they ever going to fix up the minesite? Who gets all the money?
| Your approach | Maybe you need to think about where you work, and what the company's approach is to community issues like the particular minesite and the total environment. Yes, you could buy a few shares and ask questions at a shareholder's meeting, but maybe you just need to do the small and simple things that can make a long term and sustainable contribution ... and by example, pass that onto your kids. |
