| 'The worries' | Will my child ever make friends? Will he/she get along with others the same age? Will there always be fights? Will I be able to relax while he/she plays? |
| Making friends, is like walking.
At first children learn to do it with a lot of support. Repeating names and talking positively about new friends is helfpul. Later, they charge off on their own! |

| Check out local child care centres - it's a start of new networks for you all Church & social support groups can be inviting Speak with neighbours and link up with their networks, hobbies & kids Discover where your local playgrounds are ... use play to attract others, and take a ball to share! |

| Agree on regular
play dates. Set aside say a day a week, to meet children around the same age. All will be able to observe and interact with others on a similar level and the bonus is that Mums get to chat together too! If a playgroup is at your home, the home has to be safe for child play. Keep the playing time short, maybe 1 - 1 1/2 hours is long enough. Playing is tiring, and better to stop while everyone is fresh. Keep a reserve of patience and energy - so it ends on a high! |
