It can make someone feel anxious and humiliated

People might be frightened
Demotivation
Loss of confidence & self esteem
Job performance drops
Work life can suffer, including anger & frustration

Some immediate solutions

 

 

 

Start by discussing the harassment with a mate
and if they agree, and are willing to support you,
then speak to those with responsibility,
(like a foreman, shift boss, onsite staff member etc).

Resolution could happen with
a quiet discussion with all involved
or if necessary, a more formal arrangement.

Warning:

Making silly complaints could be serious for you
and all involved, so be careful, but you do not need
to be harassed at work.

It would be a good idea to write down the details,
dates and people involved, so you don't have to
rely on your memory.

I was speaking to someone recently
who had been very concerned about one of their work mates.

Apparently they had worked together for a number of years
and had a good working relationship then their friend went through
a personal crisis which was fairly confidential but they had talked to management about it.

Their work didn't suffer that was until, another work colleague found out what this person was going through and started to make taunting comments.. .. undermine his work and with hold information when there was a shift change.

This employee really struggled with standing up to this abuse
as they were already in overload personally and it affected
their whole confidence.

Anyway the long and short of it was with the encouragement of their friend they reported the matter and the offending person was given a warning.

Don't join the 'put down crowd'
when you see a fellow worker being:
(a) set up to fail,
(b) excluded, or
(c).ridiculed ...
as you never know what they are going through personally.
